First anniversary concert at the Bushnell presents Paul Robeson. Some performances of the Hartford Symphony done under the auspices of the Federal Music Project (1937-1938). Includes programs of the Talcott Mountain Music Festival. Program for the Litchfield County Choral Union in 1901 includes a short biography and photo of Mr. Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, Anglo-African composer of Hiawatha's Wedding Feast. Other music performance programs include programs for Hartford concerts of the Boston Symphony, Hartford Philharmonic Orchestra, Musical Club of Hartford, Travelers Choral Club, Connecticut Gay Men's Chorus, the Norfolk Glee Club, and the Norfolk Home Missionary Society (1899-1917).

Samuel Coleridge-Taylor was born in London on August 15, 1875 to African and English parents. He studied composition (with Charles Villiers Stanford) and violin at the Royal Conservatory of Music. After completing his studies in 1897, he held a variety of posts as a conductor and teacher, while pursuing a career as a composer.
